What is House Hacking…
Great question! House hacking is a real estate strategy that involves buying a property and making it an investment by renting part of the property. It is also a way of lowering your monthly housing cost.
An example of house hacking is buying a single-residential property and turning the basement into a small apartment space and renting it out. Or renting out a spare bedroom. Another example is buying a multi family, living in one unit, and leasing the other units. The tenant’s rent then covers most or all of the mortgage payment. When you move out of your unit and rent it, then it becomes a great cash flowing property!
